Merry Christmas Advent…ure (December 20)

‘Cause everybody’s got somebody who’s got their name on a shelf
With cheap décor and flavored cheer
You rest assured that Christmas saves the yea

Song 39: BRING ON SOME ROCK FLUTE!

Ring Out, Solstice Bells by Jethro Tull

Discovered this one a few years back.

Insert tennis-ball labrador head-turn “Jethro Tull has a Christmas song”?

[Four minutes later]

Insert peak Denerio style eyebrow raise approving head tilt “Jethro Tull has a Christmas Song”!

Christmas Saves The Year by Twenty One Pilots

This song released in 2020 expresses the feeling that Christmas can be that healing time in our lives. The “cheap décor” is all the plastic, cotton, wool, or whatever fake trees are made of, that we project meaning into.

The tune and vocals of the song I really enjoy but I always come back to that lyric.

Nothing in the holiday season reflects that more to me than the ornaments on the tree.

I would bet that everyone I know has at least one if not twenty ornaments they could write their own blog post about. Why they love it, what it reminds them of, who gave it to them, and what Christmas (give or take) they received it.

Maaaayyyybbeee there is someone out there with a 24-carat Ornament dangling on the branch of their tree. Maybe.

Almost guaranteed eighty percent of those who read this have some yarn-hung, popcicle-stick-framed, Crayola-marker-colored, picture frame(s) decorating their personal Tannenbaum. They might all be facing the back wall of the living room, but they are out of the box and on the tree.

So this is my “create some good memories in 2023” song number 40.

Thanks for reading. See you tomorrow.
