You will get a sentimental feeling when you hear
Brenda lee
Voices singing, let’s be jolly
Deck the halls with boughs of holly
Rockin’ around the Christmas tree
Have a happy holiday
Everyone dancin’ merrily
In the new old-fashioned way
A few days ago the songs were about my little ones. Tonight’s entries are about ThisDad as a little one. These two songs take me back to trying to steal the cookie batter spoon and Mom trying to keep a flanking little brother from doing the same.
These two songs take me back to the OG Northwest Plaza. The outdoor version of my youth where mom would try to herd her boys from shop to shop all while we were trying to find all of Santa’s lighted reindeer decorations in the courtyard.
These songs take me back to the immediate-hidden-stocking-sleuthing Grandma “Bootsie” had prepared for me, little bro, and “big sis”. (A tradition that Aunt Mary brought back to all of us and for which we will be forever grateful)!
These songs are playing with the new GI Joe and Grandpa’s Lincoln Logs.
These songs take me back to Stomper Truck races and being SOOOO jealous of the one Uncle “Tommy Monster” had.
These songs take me back to the tins, and tins, and tins, and tins of cookies, fudge, and treats Grandma Nettler had tucked behind her kitchen table.
These songs take me back to the incredible model train township Grandpa Nettler built.
These songs just take me back.
So they are numbers 33 and 34 on the list tonight!

Few Photos from ThisDad’s Christmas Past

The picture of Grandma just cracking up because Mom had wrapping on her head brought me a huge laugh tonight. Hard to say I remember that particular incident because all I remember from those days was laughing.
That and being told to stay away from the cookies. Much like today. : )
Thanks for reading. See you tomorrow.
